Competition Heats Up The Summer At The Leading San Antonio Resort, Hyatt Regency Hill Country

(PRWEB) June 24, 2010 -- With temperatures quickly soaring and summer at the ready, Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa (http://www.hyattregencyhillcountry.com) has added some family friendly competition to this summer's recreational line-up. In addition to the standard summer entertainment of scavenger hunts, DuckÓ tape boat races and sponge tag, the resort's recreation staff has taken ideas from popular TV shows such as NBC's "Minute to Win It" and Food Network's "Iron Chef America" to keep guest of the San Antonio Texas resort (http://www.hyattregencyhillcountry.com/activities) active and entertained.

One crowd favorite, and the subject of many YouTube videos, is the hysterical-to-watch Ping Pong Shake, AKA "Junk in the Trunk," where participants are encouraged to shake, wiggle, jiggle and gyrate in hopes of releasing all of the ping pong balls stashed in a box attached to their waist, in 60 seconds or less!

The San Antonio resort's Iron Chef competition (http://www.hyattregencyhillcountry.com/dining-entertainment) is limited to four families, each preparing two dishes using one super-secret ingredient. The goal is for the family to work together to create the recipes that complement the secret ingredient and prepare and plate up the dishes.

"Now, more than ever we see the demand for family activities where the parents can take an active role." said Gino Caliendo, the San Antonio resort's general manager. "The kids really seem to enjoy watching mom and dad take on these funny challenges, and it gives all of our guests something entertaining and unique to watch."

These are not the only offerings designed to keep the kids entertained this summer. In addition to the San Antonio Texas resort's main activities (http://www.hyattregencyhillcountry.com/family-fun) of sand volleyball, zero-entry kiddie pool, 950-foot Ramblin' River®, activity pool with water volley and basketball, nature trails, sand volleyball and playground, the SPAhhhT Youth Spa and UNDERground teen space are both open daily.

The SPAhhhT (pronounced "spot") Youth Spa was the first resort youth spa in the U.S. and offers a variety of services including airbrushed tattoos and Caribbean-style hair braids and basic salon services such as pedicures and manicures as well as clothed massage treatments under the supervision of a parent or guardian. The UNDERground offers Guitar Heroä, NintendoÒ Wii, PS2Ô and PS3Ô gaming stations, billiards, darts, filtered Internet access and a bar, serving up a variety of snacks and smoothies.

The San Antonio resort is celebrating its 17th summer of providing families with a fun and safe vacation experience. Packages may be booked online at hyattregencyhillcountry.com or by calling 800-55-HYATT.
